One to One Career Coaching – It’s all about YOU!
Coaching with me is a practical, transformative process which builds lasting confidence through a series of collaborative conversations, focused on your goals .
You have all the answers and resources you need. As your coach I will help you access your own innate wisdom in a confidential and non-judgmental environment. Together we can get you better results and faster than you can achieve on your own.
Coaching can:
- Get you unstuck and moving forward.
- Help you find the right direction.
- Build self confidence and belief.
- Raise your awareness of your value.
- Help you to define success for yourself.
- Empower you to create Visions, Goals and Plans you love.
- Show you how to find fresh perspectives and new options.
- Support you in making the big decisions and choices.
- Help you find the kind of motivation that doesn’t fade.
Coaching works no matter where you are starting from and what size your goals are. It is quality time out to think clearly and focus on what you really want. Coaching is a powerful catalyst for change and a real gift to yourself.
All you have to bring to coaching is a desire for change, the commitment to set goals that suit you and to take action to achieve them.
How I work
There is no charge for an initial chat by Skype or phone. It is important to establish if coaching is right for you and what exactly you want to get out of it before embarking on the journey. This conversation lasts approximately half an hour. Feel free to contact me to arrange this with no obligation on either side. Coaching sessions also take place via Skype or phone.
How many sessions will you need? The answer is as individual as you are. It depends on how big or small your goal is, what you do between sessions, whether you process life at speed or like to take your time and, what kind of obstacles you experience. Coaching is all about the mental game of life and that is a unique experience for each person. The most important thing is to have the number of sessions that feels right to you.
The Vision process
With the majority of clients I use a Vision process which I have developed over the years, working with 100s of clients. It is the first part of my Designing Your FutureTM process which you can read about elsewhere on this website.
The Vision process takes four, one and a half hour sessions. The process is an in-depth exploration of who you are and what you really want in your life. The result is a clear Vision for yourself and the confidence to achieve it.
The Vision process has three parts:
1 Values – one session
With a series of questions I will help you re-discover your core values. This puts you back in touch with who you really are and clarifies what matters most to you in life. This essential self-knowledge is a solid foundation for the rest of the process.
2 What’s Great about YOU – two sessions
You are unaware of most of the incredible value you have to offer the world. You may have forgotten or simply take it all for granted. It is important to recognise how much value you bring to the world and are able to communicate it appropriately. Withholding or hiding your light from the world robs the rest of us of the best of you.
You can probably guess this exercise is a huge confidence booster. Of the many hundreds of people I have worked on this with, every one of them has been surprised and delighted at how much more value they bring than they are consciously aware of.
3 Writing the Vision – one session
(Don’t get caught up in the words I use – if the word Vision doesn’t appeal, just substitute one that does eg, Goal, Dream, Aim, Outcome…)
With specifically designed questions I will draw out with you everything that you know for sure you want. You will be able to write a clear Vision for yourself after this session. It may not be complete, there may be gaps. These are not show stoppers, they are simply research steps in your plan.
I encourage my clients to let go and dream as big as they can. You are not committing to anything by writing a Vision and the fact is, the bigger you dream for yourself now, the more possibilities you create for yourself in reality. It is not fantasising, it it necessary to purposefully open your mind as much as possible at this stage, to work against your natural limiting beliefs and fears.
And finally, size does not matter when dealing with your Vision. It is equally valid to create an entirely new life for yourself as it is to tweak one aspect of it. All that matters is that you are creating the right life for YOU.
After the Vision process
The Vision process is life changing in itself and still there is more Coaching can offer. Because people need different things to help them along the way, my coaching is highly tailored to each individual once we have a clear Vision.
These are examples of the ways my clients use my services, in no particular order:
- To remove or change limiting beliefs or programming which has been holding you back. I often use Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) as well as pure Coaching for this and the results have been extraordinary. When you change something core, at a deep level in your mind, it creates change across every area of your life.
- To make a Plan to make the Vision a reality. The steps to get from where you are now to where you want to be. Because our brains work in very unique ways, I work with you to find a way of planning which works for you.
- Identifying and dealing with patterns of behaviour or self-sabotage, and turning these around so that you develop good habits and support yourself.
- Some of my clients use me on an ongoing basis. They contact me when they are facing particular challenges or need a sounding board. My Coaching helps them figure out a way through which gets the results they want and brings out the best in them.
- Others use me for a period of time while they are implementing their plans, as a regular check-in to keep themselves on track.
There are many more ways to use Coaching and my advice to clients is always: Trust your instincts. If you feel a pull towards Coaching or any other personal support service, try it out and see how it works for you.

Why Coaching has emerged as a profession
We have more choice and opportunity than ever before. We can study whatever we like, have multiple careers, live in different countries, create new types of work and business, set up our personal lives to suit ourselves and indulge in a multitude of interests and hobbies. And of course, this is fantastic, who wouldn’t want this?
Along with all this choice and opportunity however, comes increased stress and confusion. Life is no longer just about getting by. We want to live our best life, we want to make the right choices for us. But we are not taught how to think about what we want and how to make the best life choices. Add to which we fear missing out or making mistakes and we can get stuck, unable to move forward.
The good news is you are the expert on you and your life. You already have all the answers. It’s just that they are buried under all of the confusion of other people’s opinions, what you are programmed to think you ‘should’ do, and most of all, your own confusion about what you actually want.
It is no coincidence that Coaching has emerged as a profession. A Coach is an expert in facilitating your thinking and getting to your truth. A good Coach will not influence your choices, their expertise is in clearing the confusion and helping you access your own wisdom and answers.
How coaching differs from counselling and mentoring
Counselling focuses on the past and often on one aspect of a client’s life that has caused or is causing dysfunction. It often deals with deep-rooted emotional issues. In coaching we may explore the past but only to identify patterns you want to change or learn from to help you move forward. Coaching is holistic and future focused.
Mentoring is guidance or advice from someone with more experience or knowledge of a role or area; it shortens learning time and can be vital in development. Coaching uses the client’s own experience and knowledge to move them forward and provides a different level of personal development.
